Juan Henriquez’s pictorial work cannot be understood solely from a formal perspective. Beyond  line, materiality, or format, it is sustained by contemplation and the suspension of time. Each  piece functions as a cartographic journey in which gestures, lines, and actions deposit the  emotion of the moment within the process.

During his working sessions, time becomes fundamental: the artist observes, intervenes, and  waits, allowing materials to react and reveal traces that guide the work.

In Germinal Doubt, Juan expands his practice beyond painting by incorporating fabrics and  textures as active elements within the composition. The project develops as a textile–pictorial  assemblage in which stitching becomes a gesture of drawing. Textile objects interact with  brushstrokes and paint, creating a hybrid visual language where painting, sewing, and  observation converge. The artist’s book emerges from the emotional impulse of the artist and  functions as an ongoing diary where drawing, collage, and fragments of text intertwine. It exists  as a visceral record in continuous development a space where the artistic process is documented  as it unfolds.

About the Artist

Juan Henriquez’s painting develops as a personal topography in which intuition, structure, and  materials encounter one another to generate tension and discovery. He approaches painting as a  visceral and reflective act rather than a representational one, where each gesture becomes both  inquiry and resolution.

The canvas functions as a site of experimentation where layers of color, line, and texture  construct shifting abstract landscapes. Through the interaction of gesture, matter, and chance,  dense surfaces emerge that deepen the pictorial field and transform perception into experience.
