Cut, Tear, Rupture and Overlay

An exhibition of collage work

January 14  to February 4th, 2023

Collage is the cut, the tear, the rupture and the overlay of our contemporary culture. It is the hybrid language of urbanity—remixed, re-contextualized, and wholly built from the fragments of daily life.”

Pavel Zoubok

Edge Zones is once again offering a platform to artists not bound to one discipline, working in various media. Cut, Tear, Rupture and Overlay reveals expansive experimentation and unexpected combinations in Collage made by Miami artists who each approach the form from a unique perspective.  The exhibition visibly reveals the breadth and depth of their diverse points of view.

What are the conditions in this City that have resulted in a marked growth of interest by artists in this form and how does this touch upon and include transfer to other media and further experimentation as the interest in Collage continues and grows?

The exhibition serves as an entry point to address these questions and, as it brings together collage in various media--works on paper, sculpture, textile prints, video and sound art--the heterogeneous mix from the artists’ practices, it also will bring into play performance and various discursive and experiential forms in a collaborative and participatory reciprocity.

(Dates for performances and discursive events to be announced)
