Edge Zones Mission Statement

Edge Zones is an artist’s initiative dedicated to the research, conceptualization and execution of events that strengthen the contemporary art environment in Miami. We aim at the formation of a new way of understanding, while launching new challenges against existing contaminated concepts. Edge Zones conspires with a group of local artists whose work is often under-represent in assisting in their production and disseminating their developments in national and international forums. We choose to focus exclusively on the present time, introducing ourselves as clear exponents of a new cultural stage, an assuming the responsibility that all experiments entails a great amount of risk.

Edge Zones is dedicated to providing an accessible and challenging environment to foster the development of art in Miami. Through a variety of activities, performances, talks and exhibits, Edge Zones encourages the artist’s involvement in the community by the inclusion of the local neighborhood into the artistic discourse. By establishing alternative models of representation, of self-organized networks, EZ is working with a continually changing idea of "exhibition” practice, building a laboratory of ideas for art workers and their audience alike and establishing a network between people. Edge Zones transfers focus from the purely visual, to the production of dialogue.
